Vouga Line — Steconfer

Project Overview

Steconfer led the modernisation of the historic Vouga Line in Portugal, upgrading key sections to improve the safety and efficiency of the railway.
OutBox Productions was selected to produce video content that captured the scale and complexity of this significant rail infrastructure project.

Objectives

Steconfer required video content that would:

  • Document progress across key stages

  • Communicate technical capability to stakeholders

  • Support future rail and infrastructure tenders

  • Provide high-quality visual material for project marketing

Approach

OutBox Productions provided full on-site video coverage across multiple phases:

  • Night filming to minimise disruption to public services

  • Aerial drone coverage of rail works and equipment

  • Time-lapse sequences of critical project stages

  • Filming of specialist rail plant in operation

  • Editing and delivery of final project showcase video

Outcomes

The final video content has been used by Steconfer to:

  • Present project delivery to stakeholders and public agencies

  • Support future business development and tendering activity

  • Demonstrate expertise in rail infrastructure to wider audiences

This project reinforces OutBox Productions’ ability to deliver professional video in live engineering environments — capturing complex works safely, clearly and to a standard that supports clients’ business goals.

Waste2BioComp — Horizon Europe Project

Project Overview

Waste2BioComp is a €5.86 million Horizon Europe initiative focused on transforming organic waste into biodegradable materials for the packaging, textile, and footwear industries. With partners across multiple European countries, the project aims to reduce reliance on fossil-based inputs and promote circular economy solutions at an industrial scale.  More information: waste2biocomp.eu

Objectives

The project was established to:

  • Replace petroleum-based raw materials with bio-based alternatives

  • Scale up sustainable solutions across key manufacturing sectors

  • Demonstrate the feasibility of bio-based production at industry level

OutBox Productions’ Role

OutBox Productions was commissioned to edit the project’s official explainer video.
We were responsible for:

  • Refining a highly technical script into a clear, engaging narrative

  • Enhancing footage filmed by various project partners

  • Ensuring visual consistency with Horizon Europe brand guidelines

  • Delivering a professional final cut suitable for broad dissemination

Challenges

The majority of footage was recorded independently by project contributors using varied equipment in different locations.

Our editing team focused on bringing cohesion and clarity to the video through selective pacing, colour balancing, visual reinforcement, and smooth transitions — while keeping the scientific accuracy intact.

Results

The final video is used as a central communication tool for the Waste2BioComp project. It can also be found on the official Waste2BioComp website and on YouTube.

It is currently used for:

  • Public outreach on the project’s goals and environmental impact

  • Presentations to EU stakeholders and funding bodies

  • Institutional communication across European research networks

  • Visual and technical alignment among project partners
